National Payment Card LLC Announces Agreement with Success Systems, Inc. for an Integrated Loyalty Card ACH Payment Program that Eliminates the Current Credit/Debit Card Processing Stranglehold

Boca Raton, FL (February 20, 2007)—National Payment Card LLC, an electronic funds payment service bureau that interfaces with Point of Sale (POS) systems, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Success Systems, Inc., to further solidify the linkage and expand the acceptance of retailer loyalty cards and the ACH payment method for consumers. The National Payment Card PIN based payment system processes transactions through the Federal Reserve Automated Clearing House (ACH) resulting in lower merchant fees and a self-funded loyalty program that provides immediate savings to consumers.

Success Systems is a loyalty provider of hosted services to the convenience store marketplace. In the loyalty field, merchants are most interested in engaging the customer for repeat business and for tracking their purchases and then analyzing the data to provide relevant rewards to their members. While this has reached a level of maturity in the supermarket industry, it is now being adopted in the convenience store industry. The key goal of the agreement between National Payment Card and Success Systems is that it can elevate a loyalty program to the next level by adding a payment option via the ACH and substantially reduce credit/debit card processing fees with a portion of the savings going back to the consumer.

“The Success Systems and National Payment Card partnership gives to our clients an answer to their skyrocketing merchant fees. Our clients will not only have a way to reduce their credit/debit card processing fees but, also have a means to transfer some of those savings to their customers,” said Scott Tarlow, General Manager of Success Systems, Inc. “This is a great solution for c-stores who want to improve their profitability and competitiveness in the market, all while their customers save money. The product fits solidly within the company’s core objective of delivering inexpensive store automation tools that bring real value to our customers.”

“NPC and Success Systems clearly see the linkage between loyalty and payment, including the convenience for the consumer of using one card at POS,” said Danilo Portal, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of National Payment Card. “The additional benefit is the direct reward to the consumer for their behavioral change in the method of payment which is funded directly from the savings in credit card fees. It’s truly a win/win for the merchant and the consumer”

“National Payment Card is leading the way to make such transactions POS-centric by de-centralizing the card deck,” said Portal. “By focusing on the direct interface at the POS, we are maximizing communication to the consumer. Combined with connectivity through broadband and the use of a retailer-branded loyalty card as a form of payment, we are helping these retailers with their ownership of the consumer.”

With the signing of the agreement with Success Systems, NPC has added another strategic partner who can further introduce the market to ACH based transactions. Success Systems represents a return to NPC’s roots as it utilizes a loyalty company to extend a program into payments. This relationship is a further demonstration of two core NPC strategies: POS-centric and Decentralization of the card deck. Once again NPC demonstrates the ability to create virtual private transaction networks through the use of added functionality at the POS, leveraging IP addressability.
